As of 2026, U.S. ordinary passport holders cannot enter Togo visa-free or get a visa on arrival — both visa-on-arrival and express visas are suspended. Travelers must obtain an electronic visa (eVisa) in advance through the Togolese government's official portal, voyage.gouv.tg, which now handles all entry/exit formalities. A single-entry tourist eVisa for stays up to 15 days costs 25,000 FCFA (about USD 40); longer stays up to 90 days cost more (up to 65,000 FCFA). Applications should be submitted at least 5 working days before travel (6 working days recommended to avoid surcharges introduced after 31 December 2023); processing takes up to 5 working days. The passport must be valid for at least 3 months beyond the visa's validity and have at least 2 blank pages.
