US ordinary passport holders do NOT need a visa to visit eSwatini (Swaziland) for tourism. You may enter visa-free and stay up to 30 days, extendable once for a further 30 days at the Ministry of Home Affairs. eSwatini grants visa-free entry to United States ordinary passport holders for tourism and business visits of up to 30 days. No visa, eVisa, or visa-on-arrival application is required before or upon arrival; entry is simply stamped at the border or airport. The initial 30-day stay can be extended once by a further 30 days by applying in person at the Ministry of Home Affairs. Stays beyond 60 days require a Temporary Residence Permit. Your US passport should be valid for the duration of stay (the US Embassy advises six months validity; the official tourism authority cites at least three months beyond travel dates) and contain at least two blank pages per entry. Note that many travelers reach eSwatini overland through South Africa, which independently requires at least two unstamped visa pages for each entry. Proof of yellow fever vaccination is required only if arriving from a country with risk of yellow fever transmission. eSwatini is in Southern Africa and is not part of the Schengen area, so Schengen/ETIAS rules do not apply. Authorities have signaled plans to introduce a visa-on-arrival/eVisa system in future, but as of mid-2026 none is needed for US citizens.
