US ordinary passport holders do NOT need a visa for tourism in Guyana. You can enter visa-free and stay up to 90 days with a passport valid for at least 6 months and proof of onward or return travel. As of June 2026, citizens of the United States holding an ordinary passport may travel to Guyana for tourism or short business visits without obtaining a visa in advance. On arrival, immigration grants a visitor permit of up to 90 days. The US State Department confirms no tourist visa is required, and Guyana's Ministry of Foreign Affairs lists the United States among its visa-exempt nationalities. Requirements at the border are a passport valid for at least six months, proof of onward or return travel, and proof of accommodation. There is no fee for visa-free entry. A yellow fever vaccination certificate is required only if arriving from or transiting (within roughly 6 days) a country with risk of yellow fever transmission; it is not required when arriving directly from the United States. Travelers wishing to work, study, immigrate, or stay beyond the permitted period must apply for the appropriate visa or permit through the Guyana Department of Immigration or a Guyanese consulate. Extensions of stay can be requested in Georgetown at the Immigration Department of the Ministry of Home Affairs.
