Saudi Arabia ordinary passport holders need an eVisa to visit Djibouti for tourism. Apply online before travel at the official portal (evisa.gouv.dj); there is no general visa-free or visa-on-arrival channel for ordinary passports. Djibouti is not in the Schengen area and does not grant visa-free entry to Saudi Arabia ordinary passport holders. Since 18 February 2018, Djibouti has operated a government eVisa system that replaced the general visa-on-arrival program. Ordinary-passport visitors from Saudi Arabia must obtain an eVisa online before departure. Two tourist categories exist: a short-stay/transit eVisa valid for up to 14 days (about USD 12) and a short-stay eVisa for stays of 15 to 90 days (about USD 23). The eVisa is issued for tourism or commerce purposes, processed within roughly 4 to 7 working days, and holders must enter through Djibouti-Ambouli International Airport with a printed copy of the approved visa plus a passport valid at least 6 months. Visa-on-arrival remains formally reserved for diplomatic, official, and service passports, so ordinary travelers should default to the eVisa. Always verify against the official portal before booking, as airline check-in staff require evidence of the eVisa.
