Russian ordinary passport holders do NOT need a visa for Uzbekistan. A long-standing bilateral visa-free agreement allows Russian citizens to enter for tourism with no fixed time limit (officially "unlimited duration"). You just need a valid Russian international (foreign-travel) passport and must register your stay within 3 working days. Under a bilateral intergovernmental agreement, citizens of the Russian Federation enjoy visa-free entry to Uzbekistan. The Uzbek Ministry of Foreign Affairs lists Russia among countries with "unlimited duration" visa-free access, alongside other CIS states. For tourism and short visits, no visa, eVisa, or visa-on-arrival is required. Russian travelers enter on a valid international (zagranpasport) passport; the internal Russian passport is not accepted at the border (a 2025 presidential decree to allow ID-card entry was under discussion but is not yet in force as of mid-2026). The only administrative obligation is temporary residence registration: hotels register guests automatically, while independent travelers must register through the online Emehmon system (emehmon.uz) within 3 working days of arrival. No registration is required if the stay does not exceed 3 working days. There is no visa fee for this route; costs are limited to passport issuance and any small tourist/registration charges.
