Russian ordinary-passport holders need a Schengen Type C visa to enter Poland for tourism, but in practice Poland does not issue tourist visas to Russian citizens. Poland has maintained a near-total tourist-visa ban for Russians since 2022 and also refuses entry at its external Schengen border to Russians holding tourist Schengen visas issued by other states. Treat leisure travel to Poland as effectively not possible. Poland is in the Schengen area, so short stays are governed by the Schengen Type C visa and the 90-days-in-any-180-day rule. Russia has no visa-waiver with the Schengen states, and the EU-Russia visa facilitation agreement was fully suspended on 9 September 2022, making the process longer, costlier (fee raised to EUR 90) and more heavily scrutinised. Poland applies one of the strictest interpretations: since 2022 it has effectively stopped issuing tourist (and most other short-stay) visas to Russian citizens, and it refuses entry at its external Schengen border to Russians arriving for tourism, business, sport or culture even on visas issued by other Schengen states. From 7 November 2025 the EU banned multiple-entry Schengen visas for Russians, so any visa that is issued is single-entry only. From 1 January 2026 Polish borders stopped recognising Russian diplomatic and service passports, and from 1 April 2026 non-biometric ordinary Russian passports are no longer accepted, so only a biometric (chip) passport is valid. ETIAS is irrelevant here because it applies only to visa-exempt nationalities; Russians remain visa-required. Realistic short tourist travel to Poland is therefore not available; only narrow humanitarian, family-reunion or other exceptional categories may obtain a single-entry visa on a case-by-case basis.
