Russian (ordinary passport) travelers need a Nigeria Tourist e-Visa (F5A). Since 1 May 2025 Nigeria has replaced visa-on-arrival with a mandatory online e-Visa that must be obtained before travel. Apply at the official portal, upload documents, pay the fee, and receive an Electronic Travel Authorization Letter (eTAL) by email, usually within 48 hours. Nigeria requires Russian ordinary passport holders to obtain a visa for tourism, and as of 2025-2026 the standard channel is the Tourism e-Visa (category F5A). Under Nigeria's New Visa Policy 2025, the Federal Ministry of Interior and the Nigeria Immigration Service launched a fully digital e-Visa platform on 1 May 2025 and phased out the previous visa-on-arrival system. The e-Visa is open to nationals of roughly 177 eligible countries, which includes Russia (Russia is not an ECOWAS member and has no visa-waiver agreement with Nigeria, so no visa-free channel exists). The Tourism e-Visa is single entry, valid for 90 days from issuance, and permits a stay of up to 30 days; it is non-extendable and does not permit employment. Applicants apply entirely online at the official portal (evisa.immigration.gov.ng / portal.immigration.gov.ng), upload a passport bio-data page, photo, return ticket, hotel/host details and a bank statement, and pay online. The government immigration fee for Russian nationals is approximately US$84 for single entry; third-party agencies add service and biometric charges that can push the total well above US$300, so applying directly via the official portal is cheapest. Decisions are typically issued within 24-48 hours, occasionally up to about 5 business days in peak periods. The passport must be valid for at least six months. Travelers should print the eTAL approval and carry supporting documents for inspection on arrival. Because sources consistently confirm a visa requirement and there is no visa-free or genuine on-arrival channel, the verdict is e-Visa.
