No advance application, eVisa, ETA, or visa-on-arrival is required for trips within the 14-day limit. Travelers must hold a passport valid for at least six months beyond the intended stay and be able to show onward or return travel and, if asked, sufficient funds. The visa-free period of 14 days cannot normally be extended at the border; stays longer than 14 days, or non-tourism purposes (work, study, long-term residence), require a visa obtained in advance from a Bruneian diplomatic mission, since neither an eVisa nor a general visa-on-arrival channel is available to Russian citizens. Travelers should also complete Brunei's electronic arrival card if required at the time of travel and observe local laws, which are strict (Brunei enforces Sharia-based rules, prohibition on alcohol importation beyond personal allowance limits, and severe penalties for drug offenses). Always reconfirm the day count and entry rules shortly before departure, as visa policies can change.
