Philippine ordinary passport holders need a Schengen short-stay (Type C) visa before traveling to Greece for tourism. There is no visa-free, visa-on-arrival, or eVisa option, and ETIAS does NOT apply to Filipinos because the Philippines is not on the EU's visa-exempt list. Apply in advance through the Greece visa application center in Manila. Greece is a member of the Schengen Area. The Philippines is a visa-required (Annex I) nationality for the Schengen Area, so Filipino ordinary-passport holders must obtain a Schengen Type C short-stay visa from a Greek consulate or its authorized visa application center before departure. The Type C visa permits a stay of up to 90 days within any 180-day period across the entire Schengen Area. The standard adult visa fee is EUR 90 (about PHP 6,480) plus an approximately EUR 30 service-center fee. A common point of confusion is ETIAS: the European travel authorization expected to launch in late 2026 applies ONLY to visa-exempt nationalities. Because the Philippines is NOT visa-exempt, ETIAS does not replace the visa requirement for Filipinos — they will continue to need a full Schengen visa. Applicants should apply no earlier than 6 months and no later than 15 days before travel, appear in person for biometrics, and demonstrate sufficient funds (roughly EUR 50-65 per day), travel medical insurance with at least EUR 30,000 coverage, confirmed accommodation, and return travel arrangements.
