No visa is required. As a Netherlands (EU) passport holder, you enjoy full EU freedom of movement and can travel to Croatia for tourism with just a valid passport or national ID card. No ETIAS is needed for EU citizens. Both the Netherlands and Croatia are member states of the European Union and the Schengen Area (Croatia joined Schengen on 1 January 2023). A Dutch citizen travels to Croatia under EU freedom-of-movement rules, which means no visa, no entry permit, and no time limit on tourist stays. You may enter with either a valid Dutch passport or a valid national identity card; there is no passport-validity buffer requirement for EU citizens beyond the document being valid for the trip. Internal Schengen border checks between the Netherlands and Croatia have been abolished, though carriers and police may still ask to see ID. EU nationals are explicitly exempt from ETIAS, the new travel authorisation launching in Q4 2026 — ETIAS applies only to visa-exempt non-EU nationals. The Schengen 90/180 short-stay rule does NOT restrict EU citizens; it applies to third-country nationals. A Dutch citizen may stay in Croatia indefinitely as a tourist, and if remaining longer than 3 months should register residence with local authorities under EU rules.
