Dutch ordinary passport holders do NOT need a visa to visit Chile for tourism. They can enter visa-free and stay for up to 90 days, receiving a Tourist Card (Tarjeta de Turismo) on arrival. Netherlands is an EU member state, and all EU nationals are exempt from visa requirements for short tourist visits to Chile under the "Permanencia Transitoria" (transitory stay) framework set out in Chile's Migration Law No. 21.325. A Dutch ordinary passport holder may enter Chile for tourism without any prior visa or travel authorization and stay for up to 90 days. On arrival, immigration (Policía de Investigaciones, PDI) issues a free Tourist Card (Tarjeta de Turismo) valid for the duration of the authorized stay; it must be kept and presented on departure. Chile does not operate an eVisa, ETA, or visa-on-arrival scheme for Dutch tourists, and there is no reciprocity/entry fee for European Union nationals (Chile's former reciprocity fee never applied to EU citizens and was discontinued generally). Travelers should hold a passport valid for the duration of stay (six months' validity is widely recommended), and border officers may ask for proof of onward/return travel and sufficient funds. The 90-day stay can be extended once for another 90 days through the Servicio Nacional de Migraciones (SERMIG), subject to a fee. Note that Chile is in South America and is NOT part of the Schengen area, so the Schengen 90/180 rule and EU ETIAS do not apply to entering Chile; ETIAS instead concerns Chilean citizens traveling to Europe.
