Dutch (Netherlands) ordinary passport holders do NOT need a visa for tourism in Botswana. You may enter visa-free and stay up to 90 days within a 365-day period, with a permission stamp issued on arrival. As of 2026-05-30, the Netherlands is on Botswana's visa-exemption list as an EU member state. Dutch ordinary passport holders traveling for tourism or a short visit are granted visa-free entry, with an entry stamp issued at the port of arrival permitting a stay of up to 90 days within any 365-day (12-month) period. No advance application, eVisa, or visa-on-arrival fee is required for this category. Travelers must hold a passport valid for at least 6 months with at least two blank pages, and may be asked to show an onward/return ticket and proof of sufficient funds (commonly cited at around USD 300 per week). A yellow fever vaccination certificate is required only if arriving from or transiting a yellow-fever-endemic country. Botswana operates an eVisa system (launched August 2021) but it applies to nationalities that are NOT visa-exempt, so Dutch citizens do not use it for short tourist visits. Botswana is not in the Schengen area, so the Schengen 90/180 rule and ETIAS do not apply to this route.
