Netherlands passport holders need an e-Visa to visit Afghanistan. Since March 2026, Afghanistan issues a single-entry tourist e-Visa fully online via the official E-Afghans portal, valid for entry through Kabul International Airport only. A Dutch (Netherlands) ordinary passport holder cannot enter Afghanistan visa-free; a visa is required. As of March 2026, Afghanistan replaced its embassy-based process with an online e-Visa system run through the official E-Afghans portal (eafghans.com/e-visa). The system issues a single-entry tourist e-Visa allowing a stay of up to 30 days, valid for entry within 90 days of issuance. The Netherlands is not on Afghanistan's restricted or ineligible nationality lists, so Dutch citizens may apply directly online without needing to be in a third country. The fee structure is an USD 8 non-refundable application fee paid up front, followed by USD 123.71 (USD 120 visa fee plus a USD 3.71 processing charge) once the application is approved, totaling roughly USD 128-132. Standard processing is typically 1 to 3 weeks, with express same-day processing available at higher cost. Critically, the e-Visa is currently accepted only for arrivals at Kabul International Airport (HIA) and is not yet valid at land borders.
