Malaysian ordinary passport holders can get a Nepal tourist visa on arrival (VOA) at Tribhuvan International Airport (Kathmandu) and other designated entry points. No advance visa is required for a short tourist stay. A Malaysia (MY) ordinary passport holder traveling to Nepal for tourism is eligible for a Tourist Visa on Arrival (VOA). Malaysia is not on Nepal's list of nationalities that must obtain a visa in advance (that list covers a small set of countries such as Afghanistan, Iran, Iraq, Syria, Nigeria, Ghana, Cameroon, Somalia, Liberia, Ethiopia, Zimbabwe, Eswatini/Swaziland, Palestine, and holders of refugee travel documents). On arrival at Tribhuvan International Airport (Kathmandu), Pokhara International Airport, Gautam Buddha International Airport (Bhairahawa/Lumbini), or designated land borders, Malaysian travelers fill out the visa application form (recommended online beforehand at the Nepal Immigration portal to save time), pay the fee in USD or convertible currency, and receive a multiple-entry tourist visa. Fees are USD 30 for 15 days, USD 50 for 30 days, and USD 125 for 90 days. All tourist visas issued (whether on arrival or extended in-country) are multiple-entry, and the cumulative maximum tourist stay is 150 days within one calendar year (January-December). Passports must be valid for at least six months. Travelers who prefer to arrange a visa before departure can apply at the Embassy of Nepal in Kuala Lumpur, where fees are charged in Malaysian Ringgit (RM 130 for 15 days, RM 210 for 30 days, RM 525 for 90 days). Because VOA is straightforward, reliable, and available to Malaysians, it is the recommended route for most short tourist visits. Nepal is not part of the Schengen area, so Schengen 90/180 and ETIAS rules do not apply.
