Malaysian ordinary passport holders can visit Myanmar visa-free for up to 14 days for tourism or short social visits, effective 1 October 2025, provided they enter and exit through Yangon, Mandalay, or Nay Pyi Taw international airports. As of 1 October 2025, Myanmar grants reciprocal visa-free entry to holders of valid Malaysian ordinary passports for short-term social and tourism visits of up to 14 days. This completes Myanmar's visa-waiver coverage for all ASEAN member states. The exemption applies only when arriving and departing through one of Myanmar's three designated international airports: Yangon (Mingaladon), Mandalay, and Nay Pyi Taw. Travelers entering or leaving by land border, or who intend to stay longer than 14 days, are not covered by the waiver and must instead apply for a tourist eVisa through the official government portal (evisa.moip.gov.mm) for USD 50, which permits a stay of up to 28 days and is valid for 90 days from issue. The visa exemption does not by itself guarantee entry; final admission remains at the discretion of Myanmar immigration officers, who may require proof of onward/return travel, sufficient funds, and a passport valid for at least six months. Travelers should carry confirmation of accommodation and a return ticket. Note that internal travel within Myanmar can be subject to security restrictions in certain regions; check current advisories before booking.
