Malaysian ordinary passport holders need a visa for Kuwait, but Malaysia is on Kuwait's eVisa eligible list. You can apply online for a tourist eVisa before you fly (recommended), or obtain a visa on arrival at Kuwait International Airport if arriving by air. As of 2026, Malaysia (ordinary passport) is one of around 53 nationalities eligible for Kuwait's electronic visa, so it is NOT visa-free. The fastest and most reliable route is the official Kuwait eVisa, applied for online through the Ministry of Interior portal (kuwaitvisa.moi.gov.kw) before departure. The tourist eVisa is single entry, costs 3 Kuwaiti dinars (KWD), must be used to enter within 30 days of issuance, and permits a tourist stay of up to 90 days (3 months) per entry. Malaysians arriving by air may alternatively obtain a visa on arrival at Kuwait International Airport, but the eVisa is preferable because it is confirmed before travel and is the only safe option if you arrive by land or sea (on-arrival visas are generally not issued at land/sea borders). Passports must be valid for at least 6 months on arrival. Kuwait is not in the Schengen area, so Schengen 90/180 and ETIAS rules do not apply. Tourist visa/eVisa holders may not work in Kuwait.
