Malaysian ordinary passport holders need a visa to visit Jordan. The recommended route is the official Jordan eVisa (via the Ministry of Interior portal), though visa on arrival and the Jordan Pass are also available. Jordan is not visa-free for Malaysian (MY) ordinary passport holders. A short tourist visit requires a visa, which can be obtained three ways: (1) the official Jordan eVisa through the Ministry of Interior portal (moi.gov.jo) before travel, (2) visa on arrival at Queen Alia International Airport and major land borders, or (3) the Jordan Pass, which bundles the entry visa fee with tourist site entry and waives the visa fee provided you stay at least 3 nights / 2 consecutive nights in Jordan. The standard single-entry tourist visa fee is JOD 40 for a 30-day stay (extendable up to 60 days at a local police station). The passport must be valid for at least 6 months beyond the intended stay with at least two blank pages, and proof of onward/return travel is required. For most independent travelers visiting Petra, Wadi Rum and Jerash, the Jordan Pass is the most economical option because it offsets the visa fee against attraction tickets; the eVisa is the cleanest pre-arrival document for those not buying the Pass. Note: Jordan does not recognize the Malaysian Emergency Certificate (travel document) for entry, only the standard ordinary passport. Jordan is not in the Schengen area, so the Schengen 90/180 rule and ETIAS do not apply.
