Mexican ordinary passport holders do NOT need a visa for tourism in Peru. They enter visa-free for up to 183 days per year (immigration officers typically grant 90 days at the border) using a valid passport and the digital Andean Migration Card (TAM). As of June 2026, holders of an ordinary Mexican passport can travel to Peru for tourism without any visa. Peru briefly announced (8 April 2024) a reciprocal visa requirement for Mexicans after Mexico imposed visas on Peruvians, but it was rescinded days later by Supreme Decree No. 012-2024-RE on 11 April 2024 before ever taking effect, restoring full visa-free access. Mexicans may stay up to 183 days within a one-year period; in practice Peruvian immigration usually stamps 90 days on arrival, and extensions or fresh allocations are at the officer's discretion. Entry is recorded through Peru's fully digital Andean Migration Card (Tarjeta Andina de Migracion / TAM) - there is no paper form and no entry fee. Travelers should carry a passport valid for the duration of stay (a 6-month validity buffer is widely recommended), proof of onward or return travel, and evidence of sufficient funds and accommodation, any of which may be requested at the border. Peru is in South America and is not part of the Schengen area, so the Schengen 90/180 rule and ETIAS do not apply.
