South Korean ordinary passport holders need a visa for Djibouti and should obtain it online before travel through the official Djibouti eVisa portal (evisa.gouv.dj). There is no visa-free entry and no reliable visa-on-arrival for ordinary passports. Djibouti is not a Schengen country and does not grant visa-free entry to South Korean ordinary passport holders. Since the launch of the national eVisa system on 18 February 2018, the recommended and reliable route for tourists is the electronic visa applied for at the official government portal (evisa.gouv.dj). Two tourist tiers exist: a short-stay eVisa for up to 14 days (USD 12) and a short-stay eVisa for up to 90 days (USD 23); a 3-day transit eVisa is also available. While Djibouti's law nominally references visa-on-arrival, in practice the government restricts on-arrival issuance and airlines may deny boarding without a pre-approved eVisa, so an eVisa obtained before departure is strongly advised. Applicants need a passport valid at least 6 months beyond arrival with a blank page, a digital photo, proof of accommodation, and a flight reservation.
