🇯🇵日本(Japan)🇺🇾乌拉圭(Uruguay)JP-UY 日本(Japan) 前往 乌拉圭(Uruguay) 签证要求
Japanese ordinary passport holders do NOT need a visa to visit Uruguay for tourism. They can enter visa-free and stay up to 90 days under a long-standing Japan-Uruguay bilateral visa-waiver agreement. A Japan (JP) ordinary passport holder can travel to Uruguay (UY) for tourism without any visa. Under a bilateral visa-exemption agreement in force since 1974, Japanese nationals are granted visa-free entry for short stays of up to 90 days, which can be extended for a further 90 days by applying to the Direccion Nacional de Migracion in Montevideo (up to 180 days per year). Uruguay is in South America and is NOT part of the Schengen Area, so the Schengen 90/180 rule and ETIAS do not apply; the 90-day allowance is specific to Uruguay. At the port of entry, travelers present their valid passport and may be asked for proof of onward/return travel and sufficient funds (roughly USD 500 or equivalent). Uruguay has a notably flexible passport-validity rule - the passport only needs to be valid for the duration of the stay - though six months' validity is the safer, airline-friendly standard. There is no entry fee or reciprocity fee for Japanese citizens, and there is no eVisa, visa-on-arrival, or ETA requirement. This verdict was confirmed against the Uruguay visa policy (citing the 1974 agreement), the Japanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs visa-exemption list, and the U.S. State Department country information. No adverse 2024-2026 changes affect Japanese nationals.
