🇯🇵日本(Japan)🇲🇳蒙古国(Mongolia)JP-MN 日本(Japan) 前往 蒙古国(Mongolia) 签证要求
Japanese ordinary passport holders do NOT need a visa for Mongolia. They may enter visa-free and stay up to 30 days for tourism under a permanent bilateral visa-exemption agreement. No application, eVisa, or visa-on-arrival is required. Japan and Mongolia maintain a permanent reciprocal visa-exemption arrangement (in force since April 2010) for ordinary passport holders. A Japanese citizen traveling to Mongolia for tourism or a short visit can enter without any visa and stay for up to 30 days, receiving an entry stamp at the border. The passport must be valid for at least six months beyond the intended stay. There is no fee, no online application, and no eVisa requirement for stays within 30 days. Travelers do not need to register with the Immigration Agency of Mongolia for stays of 30 days or less; registration (within 7 days of arrival) is only required for those planning to remain longer than 30 days, which would also require a residence permit or visa extension obtained before the visa-free period expires. Mongolia is not part of the Schengen area, so the Schengen 90/180 rule and ETIAS do not apply. As of 2026-05-30, this 30-day visa-free access for Japanese ordinary passports is a stable, treaty-based entitlement and is distinct from the separate temporary unilateral visa-waiver program Mongolia operates for roughly 34 other countries (which runs through 1 January 2027). Travelers should still carry proof of onward/return travel and confirm current rules with the Mongolian Embassy in Tokyo before departure.
