🇯🇵日本(Japan)🇱🇻拉脱维亚(Latvia)JP-LV 日本(Japan) 前往 拉脱维亚(Latvia) 签证要求
Japanese ordinary passport holders do NOT need a visa to visit Latvia for tourism. As an EU/Schengen member, Latvia allows visa-free stays of up to 90 days within any 180-day period. No advance authorization is required yet; ETIAS becomes mandatory only after its Q4 2026 launch. Latvia is part of the Schengen Area, and Japan is on the EU list of visa-exempt nationalities for short stays. A Japanese citizen holding an ordinary passport can enter Latvia for tourism, business, or family visits without a visa and stay up to 90 days within any rolling 180-day period (counted across the entire Schengen Area, not just Latvia). The passport must be valid for at least 3 months beyond the intended departure date and issued within the previous 10 years. At the border, travelers should be prepared to show proof of onward/return travel, accommodation, and sufficient funds. Two changes are arriving for visa-exempt travelers: the Entry/Exit System (EES) biometric registration at borders, and ETIAS, a pre-travel electronic authorization. ETIAS is scheduled to go live in the last quarter of 2026, after which Japanese travelers will need to obtain it (fee EUR 20, valid 3 years) before departure. As of the verification date (30 May 2026), ETIAS is NOT yet required and entry remains fully visa-free with no online application. Travelers should re-check the official EU ETIAS site close to their trip in late 2026 and beyond.
