No visa needed. Japanese ordinary passport holders can enter Czechia (a Schengen state) visa-free for tourism for up to 90 days within any 180-day period. Czechia is a full member of the Schengen Area, and Japan benefits from an EU-wide short-stay visa waiver. As of 1 June 2026, holders of an ordinary Japanese passport may travel to Czechia for tourism, business, family visits or similar short purposes without any visa, for a maximum of 90 days within any rolling 180-day period across the whole Schengen zone (not per country). The passport should be valid for at least three months beyond the intended departure date and have been issued within the previous 10 years. A new electronic pre-travel authorization, ETIAS, is scheduled to begin in the last quarter of 2026 (Q4 2026) for visa-exempt nationals including Japan; once live it will cost EUR 7 and be valid for three years, but it is NOT yet required as of this date. Travelers should also be aware the EU Entry/Exit System (EES) is being rolled out at external borders. For the current trip there is no visa or authorization to obtain, but check ETIAS status before travel later in 2026.
