Italian ordinary passport holders can visit Uzbekistan visa-free for up to 30 days for tourism. No visa or e-visa is required for the short stay; simply arrive with a valid passport. Since 1 February 2019, Uzbekistan grants unilateral visa-free entry to citizens of Italy (and most EU states) holding any category of passport, including ordinary passports, for stays of up to 30 days regardless of trip purpose. This is confirmed by Uzbekistan's Ministry of Foreign Affairs (gov.uz). Italian tourists therefore do not need a visa or e-visa for a short visit; they only need a valid passport (recommended validity of at least 6 months from entry) and onward/return arrangements. Foreign nationals staying in hotels are automatically registered; those staying in private accommodation should register with local authorities within 3 working days via the e-mehmon system. For stays longer than 30 days, travelers must obtain an e-visa (e-visa.gov.uz) or a consular visa before the visa-free period expires, as visa-free entries are generally not extendable. As of 2026-05-30 there are no Schengen/ETIAS considerations, since Uzbekistan is not in the Schengen area.
