Italian passport holders need an eVisa to visit Uganda for tourism. Ordinary Italian passport holders require a visa to enter Uganda and must obtain a Tourist eVisa online before departure. Uganda's March 2026 visa-free expansion (40 countries) explicitly excluded the EU and United States, so Italy remains a visa-required nationality. The eVisa is single-entry, costs USD 50 in government fees, and permits a stay of up to 90 days, with the approval valid for 90 days from issuance. Applications are filed exclusively through the official government portal at visas.immigration.go.ug; travelers are warned against fake third-party sites charging inflated fees. A valid yellow fever vaccination certificate is mandatory for entry, the passport must be valid for at least 6 months, and supporting documents (photo, itinerary, accommodation) are uploaded during the application. Standard processing is roughly 1-3 business days. Travelers planning to combine Uganda with Kenya and Rwanda may instead opt for the multiple-entry East Africa Tourist Visa (USD 100).
