Italian passport holders can get a Nepal tourist visa on arrival at Tribhuvan International Airport (Kathmandu) and at land borders. No advance visa is needed; you pay the fee in USD cash and receive a multiple-entry tourist visa of 15, 30, or 90 days. Italy (IT) ordinary passport holders are eligible for a Nepal tourist Visa on Arrival (VoA). Nepal is not in the Schengen area, so Schengen/ETIAS rules do not apply. Italy is not on Nepal's list of nationalities excluded from VoA, so Italian travelers can obtain the visa directly at Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu or at major land border crossings. The visa is issued for a short tourist stay in three standard tiers: 15 days (USD 30), 30 days (USD 50), or 90 days (USD 125), and all tiers are multiple-entry by default. Travelers fill in the arrival form (via airport kiosk or the pre-arrival online form at immigration.gov.np), pay the fee in convertible foreign currency (USD strongly preferred and most reliably accepted), and present a passport valid for at least 6 months with a recent passport photo. Stays can be extended at the Department of Immigration up to a cumulative maximum of 150 days per visa (calendar) year. Visa-on-arrival processing at the airport is quick but queues are common in peak trekking season (spring and autumn). Optionally, completing the online application before departure speeds up the kiosk step.
