Italian ordinary passport holders need a visa for Kuwait, but it is easy to obtain: apply online for a tourist eVisa through the Kuwait Ministry of Interior portal before you fly. As an EU/Schengen national, you can alternatively get a visa on arrival at Kuwait International Airport. Kuwait is not in the Schengen area, so the 90/180 rule and ETIAS do not apply. Kuwait does not grant visa-free entry to Italian ordinary passport holders, but Italy is on Kuwait's list of roughly 53 eligible nationalities (all EU/Schengen states plus others) that can enter with a simple electronic visa or a visa on arrival by air. The recommended route is the official MOI eVisa, applied for online before departure, which costs KWD 3 for the visa itself, is single-entry, valid for 90 days from issue, and permits a stay of up to 90 days. EU/Schengen citizens may also obtain the same visa on arrival at Kuwait International Airport for KWD 3; pre-approved eVisas are strongly recommended for land and sea crossings where on-arrival issuance is limited. Since December 23, 2025, travel/health insurance is mandatory, typically arranged through the portal for around KWD 5. Passports must be valid at least 6 months from arrival with two blank pages. Kuwait refuses entry to passports showing evidence of travel to Israel. Kuwait is not part of the Schengen area, so the Schengen 90/180-day rule and ETIAS are not relevant to this trip.
