Italian passport holders do NOT need a visa for tourism in Guatemala. As an EU citizen you may enter visa-free and stay up to 90 days. You must complete the free online immigration/customs declaration (Regional Traveler Affidavit) before arrival and departure. Italy is on Guatemala's visa-exemption list (all EU member states are exempt). Ordinary Italian passport holders may enter Guatemala for tourism without any visa and stay for up to 90 days, which may be extended once at the immigration office (Instituto Guatemalteco de Migración) for a further 90 days. No visa, no visa-on-arrival fee, and no eVisa are required. Guatemala participates in the CA-4 Border Control Agreement with El Salvador, Honduras and Nicaragua: the 90-day period is shared across all four countries, so time spent in any CA-4 country counts toward the same allowance. Since 2024 all travelers (Guatemalan and foreign) must complete the mandatory, free electronic Regional Traveler Affidavit (Declaracion Jurada Regional de Viajero / immigration-customs declaration) via the SAT portal before both entry and exit; you receive a QR code that airport authorities check. Passport must be valid for at least 6 months from arrival and carry at least 2 blank pages. Proof of onward/return travel and sufficient funds may be requested. There is no Schengen consideration here, as Guatemala is in Central America and not part of the Schengen area.
