Israeli passport holders need a visa for South Sudan, obtained online as an eVisa before travel. South Sudan grants visa-free entry to only four nationalities (Egypt, Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda), and Israel is not among them, so an eVisa is required. A holder of an ordinary Israeli passport requires a visa to enter South Sudan for tourism. The recommended and standard route is the official electronic visa (eVisa) issued by the Republic of South Sudan's Directorate of Nationality, Passports and Immigration via evisa.gov.ss. The eVisa is open to citizens of all countries, with no Israel-specific restriction in published policy. Only Egypt, Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda enjoy visa-free access; visa-on-arrival is limited to a few neighbouring states (e.g. Burundi, Rwanda) and diplomatic passport holders, so it is not a reliable option for Israeli ordinary-passport tourists. Apply online before departure: create an account, complete the form, upload a passport bio-page scan, a passport photo, proof of onward/return travel and accommodation, and a Yellow Fever vaccination certificate, then pay by card. The single-entry tourist eVisa costs around USD 100 (valid 90 days), and a multiple-entry eVisa around USD 200 (valid 180 days). Standard processing is generally within 72 hours, though travellers should apply at least 1-2 weeks ahead. Note that South Sudan carries a high travel-risk advisory due to security conditions; check current advisories before booking. South Sudan is not in the Schengen area, so Schengen/ETIAS rules do not apply.
