Israeli ordinary passport holders can visit Slovakia visa-free for up to 90 days within any 180-day period, because Slovakia is part of the Schengen Area and Israel is on the Schengen visa-exempt list. No visa is required for tourism. A pre-travel ETIAS authorization will be needed once that system launches (expected late 2026), but it is not yet mandatory. Slovakia is a full member of the Schengen Area, and Israel is a Schengen visa-exempt (Annex II) country. As a result, holders of an ordinary Israeli passport may enter Slovakia and the wider Schengen Area without a visa for short stays of up to 90 days in any rolling 180-day period for tourism, family visits, business, or transit. The 90-day allowance is shared across all 29 Schengen states combined, not per country, so any days spent in other Schengen countries in the preceding 180 days count toward the limit. The passport must have been issued within the last 10 years and remain valid for at least 3 months beyond the planned departure date from the Schengen Area. The EU Entry/Exit System (EES) is now operational and rolling out at Schengen borders; on first entry travelers register biometrics (fingerprints and a facial photo) at the border at no cost, and the digital record is valid for 3 years. The European Travel Information and Authorisation System (ETIAS) is expected to launch in late 2026 (with a transitional grace period after), after which visa-exempt nationals including Israelis will need an approved ETIAS (around EUR 7, valid 3 years) before travel. As of 2 June 2026, ETIAS is not yet mandatory, so visa-free entry currently requires only a valid passport and supporting documents at the border. Travelers should be prepared to show a return/onward ticket, proof of sufficient funds, and accommodation details on arrival.
