Israeli passport holders cannot legally travel to Afghanistan. Afghanistan refuses admission to Israeli citizens and issues no visa of any category to them; the Israeli passport is not recognized as a valid travel document. The new 2026 Afghan eVisa explicitly excludes residents of Israel. In practice this route is closed. A holder of an ordinary Israeli passport has no lawful way to enter Afghanistan for tourism or any other purpose. Afghanistan does not recognize the State of Israel and, as a matter of long-standing policy that predates Taliban rule, refuses admission to Israeli citizens. Authoritative sources confirm that no visa of any category is issued to Israeli passport holders and that the Israeli passport is not accepted as a travel document. Afghanistan launched an online tourist eVisa system in March 2026 (single-entry, up to 30 days, usable only via Kabul International Airport), but the portal explicitly bars residents of Israel from applying, regardless of any second citizenship they may hold. Beyond the citizenship ban, Afghan authorities may also deny entry to any traveler whose passport contains an Israeli visa or entry/exit stamp, or stamps from border crossings adjacent to Israel (e.g. certain Egyptian or Jordanian land borders). Separately, Afghanistan is under the highest-level travel advisories from virtually every Western government due to armed conflict, terrorism, kidnapping and arbitrary detention risks, and Israel's National Security Council prohibits its citizens from traveling there. The verdict is therefore visa-required in the strict technical sense, but realistically the route is fully closed for Israeli nationals. There is no eVisa, visa-on-arrival, or visa-free channel available. Travelers with dual nationality should be aware that using a second passport does not cure the problem, as residence in Israel alone disqualifies eVisa applicants and an Israeli birthplace or travel history can trigger refusal at the border.
