Do Indonesia passport holders need a visa to visit DZ?
Indonesian ordinary passport holders need a visa to enter Algeria for tourism. There is no visa-free entry, no general visa-on-arrival, and no live eVisa system yet, so you must apply in person at an Algerian embassy or consulate before you travel. As of 2026, holders of an ordinary Indonesian passport must obtain a tourist (short-stay) visa before traveling to Algeria. Algeria is in North Africa and is not part of the Schengen area, so the Schengen 90/180 rule and ETIAS do not apply. The visa must be obtained from the Embassy of the People's Democratic Republic of Algeria in Jakarta (or another Algerian mission) before departure; applications are normally submitted in person and require a certificate of accommodation legalized by Algerian local authorities or a confirmed hotel booking / travel agency certificate. A passport valid for at least six months with blank pages, two to three recent photos, multiple completed application forms, proof of onward travel, and travel/repatriation insurance are standard. Algeria announced plans for an eVisa, but as of mid-2026 the paper visa sticker issued by the embassy remains the operative process for ordinary tourists. A visa-on-arrival exists only as a narrow exception: travelers on tours of certain southern (Saharan) regions organized through an approved Algerian travel agency may receive a 30-day visa on arrival, and a regularization visa may be granted on arrival only in emergencies. Note that entry can be refused if the passport contains Israeli visas or stamps. Maximum effective stay is capped at 180 days per year, with individual tourist visas typically authorizing stays around 30-90 days as printed on the sticker.
