Do Indonesia passport holders need a visa to visit DO?

Indonesian ordinary passport holders need a visa to enter the Dominican Republic for tourism. Indonesia is not on the Dominican visa-free list, and there is no Dominican consulate in Indonesia, so the tourist visa must be applied for at a Dominican embassy/consulate in a third country. Important shortcut: if you already hold a valid US, Canadian, UK, Irish or Schengen visa or residence card, you may enter the Dominican Republic without a Dominican visa for up to 30 days. All air travelers must also complete the free online E-Ticket and the ~USD 10 tourist card (normally bundled into the airfare). As of 2026, Indonesia is classified by the Dominican Republic's Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MIREX) as a nationality that requires a tourist visa; it does not appear on the visa-free or tourist-card-only lists. Because there is no Dominican embassy or consulate in Indonesia, applicants must apply in person at the nearest Dominican mission abroad (commonly Singapore, Tokyo, Beijing, or another regional post) before travel. The standard tourist visa permits stays aligned with the 30-day tourist entry, extendable on departure for a fee. A widely used alternative exists: under Dominican visa policy, anyone holding a valid visa or residence card from the Schengen Area, the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Ireland or Cyprus may enter the Dominican Republic without applying for a Dominican visa, receiving the usual 30-day tourist admission. Regardless of which channel is used, every air traveler (including infants) must complete the free electronic E-Ticket at the official migration portal, and the approximately USD 10 tourist card fee is automatically included in airline tickets issued for air arrivals (only land/sea arrivals pay it separately). Passports should be valid at least six months and travelers should carry proof of onward/return travel, accommodation and sufficient funds. The Dominican Republic is not part of the Schengen Area, so ETIAS and the Schengen 90/180 rule do not apply.

How to apply

/01
Confirm whether you qualify for the visa-free shortcut
If you hold a valid visa or residence card from the US, Canada, UK, Ireland, Cyprus or any Schengen state, you can skip the Dominican visa entirely and enter for up to 30 days. If not, proceed to apply for a tourist visa.
· Check existing visas first
/02
Locate a Dominican consulate (none in Indonesia)
Because the Dominican Republic has no mission in Indonesia, identify the nearest accredited embassy/consulate — commonly in Singapore, Tokyo, Beijing or another regional capital — and confirm its appointment and submission procedure.
· Apply abroad
/03
Gather the required documents
Prepare a passport valid 6+ months, two 50x50mm white-background photos, recent bank statements showing sufficient funds, confirmed round-trip flights, hotel/accommodation proof and travel insurance.
· Document set
/04
Submit the application and pay the consular fee
Lodge the application in person at the chosen Dominican consulate, complete the visa form and pay the applicable consular fee. Keep the payment receipt.
· In-person submission
/05
Complete the free E-Ticket before flying
After your visa is issued (or if using the visa-free channel), fill in the mandatory free E-Ticket at eticket.migracion.gob.do for both arrival and departure — one per traveler, including children.
· Mandatory for all air travelers
/06
Carry entry evidence and respect your stay
At immigration present your passport, visa (if required), E-Ticket QR code, return ticket and accommodation proof. Track your 30-day limit and arrange any extension before departure to avoid overstay fees.
· At the border
