Do Hong Kong passport holders need a visa to visit YE?
HK (HKSAR) ordinary passport holders can enter Yemen visa-free for tourism for up to 30 days, but the entire country is under severe travel warnings due to ongoing armed conflict. As of 2026-05-30, holders of an ordinary Hong Kong SAR passport do NOT need a visa to enter Yemen for short tourist visits and may stay up to 30 days. This is confirmed by the HK Immigration Department's list of visa-free/visa-on-arrival destinations and the Yemen visa policy. However, this status is largely theoretical: Yemen is in an active civil war, most foreign governments (including the Hong Kong SAR government) advise against ALL travel, civilian air access is severely restricted, and travel outside Sana'a or Aden requires special government permission. Yemen launched a limited eVisa system on 24 June 2025, but it currently applies mainly to organized tourist groups of 10+ booked through accredited agencies and does not change the visa-free position for HK passport holders. Travelers should also note Yemen refuses entry to anyone with Israeli stamps or evidence of travel to Israel, and stays over 10 days require local police registration. Given the security reality, no responsible short-tourism trip is practical even though the legal verdict is visa-free.
