Hong Kong SAR passport holders can visit Vanuatu visa-free. No visa or eVisa is needed in advance; you receive a free visitor permit stamped at the airport on arrival. A Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) ordinary passport holder does NOT need a visa for a short tourist visit to Vanuatu. Hong Kong appears on the Hong Kong Immigration Department's official "Visa-free access or visa-on-arrival" list for Vanuatu, which records a permitted stay of up to 90 days, and Hong Kong is also listed among Vanuatu's visa-exempt territories. In practice, exempt travelers are not issued a visa at all and there is no online eVisa or pre-arrival application; instead, an immigration officer stamps a free visitor permit into the passport on landing at Bauerfield International Airport (Port Vila). The initial permit granted on arrival is commonly 30 days for most nationalities, though the entitlement extends up to a maximum of 120 days, with extensions applied for at the Vanuatu Department of Immigration and Passport Services if needed. There is no government fee for entry. Standard conditions apply: a passport valid for at least six months beyond the intended stay, a confirmed return or onward ticket, proof of sufficient funds (around VUV 40,000 per month), and proof of accommodation may be requested at the counter. Vanuatu is in the South Pacific and is not part of the Schengen area, so Schengen 90/180 rules and ETIAS do not apply. Because the stay is visa-exempt rather than a formal visa, travelers staying beyond the granted period must apply for an extension or a tourist visa locally.
