Do Hong Kong passport holders need a visa to visit QA?
HKSAR ordinary passport holders can enter Qatar visa-free for up to 30 days for tourism. No visa is needed before travel. As of May 2025, Hong Kong SAR ordinary passport holders enjoy visa-free entry to Qatar for short visits of up to 30 days. This was an upgrade from the previous visa-on-arrival arrangement and was confirmed by both the Hong Kong Immigration Department and Visit Qatar (the official tourism authority). On arrival, the immigration officer grants a free entry permit valid for 30 days, which can be extended once for a further 30 days. Travelers must hold a passport valid for at least three months (six months is the safer practice), a confirmed onward/return ticket and, in practice, a confirmed hotel booking or address of stay. Qatar is not in the Schengen area, so the Schengen 90/180 rule and ETIAS do not apply. Travelers who prefer pre-approval can optionally apply for a Hayya A1 entry permit online, but this is not required for HK passport holders. Final admission and stay duration are always at the discretion of the immigration officer on arrival.
