The Hong Kong Immigration Department's consolidated visa-free access list now shows Panama with a permitted stay of up to 6 months, though the originally announced reciprocal arrangement was 30 days; either way no visa is required for a tourist visit. There is no eVisa, visa-on-arrival, or ETA to apply for in advance. Travellers should ensure their passport is valid (Panama requires at least 3 months' validity on arrival, with 6 months strongly recommended) and be prepared to show a confirmed onward or return ticket and evidence of sufficient funds (commonly cited as a minimum of around USD 500 or equivalent). Panama uses the US dollar (also called the Balboa). Immigration officers set the actual length of stay granted on arrival, so visitors should keep entry documents and not overstay. Because published stay figures differ between the 2019 press release (30 days) and the current Immigration Department list (6 months), travellers planning a longer stay should confirm with the Panama Consulate General in Hong Kong or their airline before departure. For ordinary short tourist trips, no visa action is needed.
