The visa-free stay was extended from 10 days to up to 14 days effective 15 May 2025, as confirmed by the Hong Kong Immigration Department and the Royal Oman Police. This is a unilateral facilitation Oman grants to HKSAR passport holders (alongside similar enhancements for Qatar and the UAE), not a mutual visa-waiver agreement. To use the visa-free channel, travellers must satisfy entry conditions at the border: a passport valid for at least six months beyond arrival, a confirmed hotel reservation, a return/onward air ticket, travel health insurance, and evidence of sufficient funds. The 14-day visa-free stay cannot be extended or converted to a residence visa. Travellers who need to stay longer than 14 days, or who cannot meet the conditions, should obtain an Oman tourist eVisa in advance through the official Royal Oman Police portal (evisa.rop.gov.om). Oman is in the Arabian Peninsula and is not part of the Schengen area, so the Schengen 90/180 rule and ETIAS do not apply.
