HK ordinary passport holders need a visa for Myanmar. Apply online for the Myanmar tourist eVisa (US$50) before you travel; it allows a 28-day stay. Holders of an ordinary Hong Kong SAR passport are not visa-free for Myanmar and should obtain a tourist eVisa before departure. The eVisa is applied for entirely online through Myanmar's official Ministry of Immigration and Population portal, costs US$50, is processed in a minimum of 3 working days, and grants a single-entry stay of 28 days. The approval letter is valid for 90 days from the date of issue, within which you must enter Myanmar. A separate visa-on-arrival arrangement for Hong Kong residents existed as a one-year test program from 11 March 2025 to 10 March 2026, but that window has now closed and there is no published confirmation of an extension, so the eVisa is the reliable channel. Myanmar is not part of the Schengen area, so the Schengen 90/180 rule and ETIAS do not apply. eVisa holders may enter only through designated points: Yangon, Mandalay and Nay Pyi Taw international airports, or the Kawthaung land border checkpoint. Passports must have at least 6 months' validity on entry.
