No visa needed. HKSAR ordinary passport holders can enter Latvia (a Schengen country) visa-free for tourism for up to 90 days within any 180-day period. ETIAS is not yet required as of May 2026. Holders of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) ordinary passport enjoy visa-free entry to the Schengen area, which includes Latvia, for short stays of up to 90 days in any 180-day period for tourism and business. This is confirmed by the Hong Kong Immigration Department's official visa-free access list and by Schengen-member diplomatic missions. The 90/180 rule is cumulative across all Schengen states, not per country, so days spent in any other Schengen country count toward the same limit. As of 31 May 2026 no electronic travel authorization is required: ETIAS (the EUR 20 European Travel Information and Authorisation System) is not yet operational and is scheduled to launch around the end of 2026, with a transitional grace period after that before it becomes mandatory. The separate Entry/Exit System (EES), a biometric border-registration system, began rolling out in October 2025 and applies at entry but is not a visa or application travelers complete in advance. Travelers should carry a passport issued within the last 10 years and valid for at least three months beyond the planned departure from the Schengen area, along with proof of sufficient funds, accommodation, onward/return travel, and travel medical insurance, which Latvian border officers may request.
