Do Hong Kong passport holders need a visa to visit LS?
HK ordinary passport holders can visit Lesotho visa-free for tourism. No visa or eVisa is needed before travel; entry is granted on arrival at the airport or land border for short visits. Holders of an ordinary Hong Kong SAR passport do not need a visa to enter Lesotho for tourism or short visits. Lesotho's visa policy grants Hong Kong nationals visa-free entry for up to 90 days, and the Hong Kong Immigration Department lists Lesotho among the territories offering visa-free access to HKSAR passport holders. There is no fee and nothing to apply for in advance. Lesotho operated an e-Visa platform in the past, but the electronic visa system is currently suspended; in any case it is not required for Hong Kong travelers since they fall under the visa exemption. At the border, travelers should be ready to show a passport valid for at least six months with blank pages, proof of onward or return travel, evidence of sufficient funds, and accommodation details. The actual length of stay is decided by the immigration officer on arrival. Most arrivals by air are via OR Tambo (Johannesburg) into Maseru/Moshoeshoe I International Airport, or overland from South Africa, so travelers should also confirm any South Africa transit requirements. Lesotho is not in the Schengen area, so Schengen 90/180 and ETIAS rules do not apply. Requirements can change without notice, so verify with the Lesotho Ministry of Home Affairs or the nearest Lesotho mission close to departure.
