Do Hong Kong passport holders need a visa to visit DZ?
No visa is required. Since 25 November 2025, holders of an ordinary HKSAR (Hong Kong) passport can enter Algeria visa-free for short visits of up to 14 days. Holders of a valid Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) ordinary passport enjoy visa-free entry to Algeria for stays of up to 14 days, an arrangement that took effect on 25 November 2025 following formal notification from the Algerian government to the HKSAR. This applies to genuine short visits such as tourism, brief business trips, cultural exchanges, and visiting family or friends. Algeria is not part of the Schengen area, so the Schengen 90/180 rule and ETIAS do not apply. The passport should have at least six months' validity remaining, and travelers should carry proof of accommodation and return travel in case border or airline staff ask. Anyone intending to work, study, or stay longer than 14 days must still obtain the appropriate visa in advance from an Algerian diplomatic mission. Given ongoing security concerns in parts of Algeria, travelers should also check current advisories and avoid restricted areas.
