No visa required. Holders of an ordinary Hong Kong SAR passport can travel to Denmark for tourism and short visits without a visa for up to 90 days within any 180-day period, because Denmark is in the Schengen Area and Hong Kong is on the EU visa-exemption list. As of 30 May 2026, an ordinary Hong Kong SAR passport holder does NOT need a visa to visit Denmark for tourism or other short stays. Denmark is a member of the Schengen Area, and Hong Kong SAR passport holders are visa-exempt for short stays of up to 90 days in any rolling 180-day period across the whole Schengen zone (this is a combined total, not per-country). The Hong Kong Immigration Department's official visa-free access list confirms Schengen states, including Denmark, as visa-free for HKSAR passport holders. Travellers should still carry proof of accommodation, return/onward tickets, sufficient funds and travel insurance, as border officers can request these. Two upcoming EU systems affect this route but do NOT change the visa-free verdict for now: (1) the Entry/Exit System (EES), an automated biometric border-registration system that began a phased rollout from 12 October 2025 and replaces manual passport stamping; and (2) ETIAS (European Travel Information and Authorisation System), a pre-travel online authorisation for visa-exempt nationals. ETIAS is expected to become operational in late 2026 and is anticipated to be mandatory only from 2027; once in force it will cost EUR 7 (free for applicants under 18 or over 70), be valid for up to 3 years or until passport expiry, and is an authorisation, not a visa. As of the verification date, no ETIAS is yet required. If sources or border practice ever conflict, travellers should confirm with the nearest Schengen state embassy/consulate in Hong Kong before departure.
