Do Hong Kong passport holders need a visa to visit CZ?
HK ordinary (HKSAR) passport holders can travel to Czechia visa-free for tourism, staying up to 90 days within any 180-day period across the Schengen Area. Czechia is a full member of the Schengen Area, and holders of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) ordinary passport enjoy visa-free entry to all Schengen states for short stays. The allowance is a maximum of 90 days within any rolling 180-day period, counted across the entire Schengen Area (not per country). This is confirmed both by the Consulate General of the Czech Republic in Hong Kong and by the Hong Kong Immigration Department. No visa, eVisa, or pre-authorization is currently required as of May 2026. The passport must be valid for at least 3 months beyond the planned date of departure from Schengen, have been issued within the previous 10 years, and contain at least two blank pages. The main upcoming change is ETIAS: the EU's European Travel Information and Authorisation System is expected to become operational in late 2026, with a transitional period before it becomes mandatory (currently anticipated around 2027). Once ETIAS is mandatory, HKSAR passport holders will remain visa-free but must obtain an approved online ETIAS travel authorisation before departure. As of 30 May 2026, ETIAS is not yet required, so the verdict remains visa-free.
