Do Hong Kong passport holders need a visa to visit CY?

HK ordinary passport holders do NOT need a visa for short tourist trips to Cyprus. They may stay up to 90 days within any 180-day period, free of charge. Holders of the Hong Kong SAR ordinary passport enjoy visa-free entry to the Republic of Cyprus for tourism and short visits, for up to 90 days in any 180-day period. This is confirmed by the Hong Kong Immigration Department's official list of visa-free destinations, which records 90 days for Cyprus. Cyprus is an EU member state but, as of May 2026, is not yet part of the Schengen Area (final accession is expected during 2026 but had not been completed at the time of writing). Because Cyprus is outside Schengen for now, the 90/180 day allowance for Cyprus is counted SEPARATELY from the Schengen 90/180 allowance — time spent in Cyprus does not consume your Schengen quota and vice versa. The EU's ETIAS travel authorisation is expected to begin in the last quarter of 2026; once live and applicable to Cyprus, visa-exempt visitors including HK passport holders will need an approved ETIAS before travel, but it is NOT yet required as of May 2026. The passport should be valid for at least three months beyond the intended departure date. Entry is for tourism/visiting purposes only; work or long stays require the appropriate visa or permit. Final admission is always at the discretion of the Cypriot border officer.
