Do Hong Kong passport holders need a visa to visit CO?

No visa needed. Since 30 January 2026, Hong Kong SAR ordinary passport holders can enter Colombia visa-free for tourism for up to 90 days per rolling 12-month period. You only need a valid passport and the free online Check-MIG form before arrival. Holders of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) ordinary passport do not require a visa to enter Colombia for tourism, business or airport transit. The exemption was operationalised on 30 January 2026 (stemming from a 2023 Colombian Foreign Ministry resolution), when the Consulate-General of Colombia in Hong Kong published the update; Colombia now appears on the HK Immigration Department's list of visa-free/visa-on-arrival territories. On arrival, immigration officers grant a Permiso de Ingreso y Permanencia (PIP) of up to 90 days, which can be extended once for a further 90 days, capped at 180 days within any 12-month period. Colombia is in South America, not the Schengen area, so the Schengen 90/180 rule and ETIAS do not apply here. There is no visa fee. Every traveller, regardless of nationality, must complete the free online Check-MIG migration form within 72 hours (and at least 1 hour) before boarding. The passport should be valid for the duration of stay; carrying proof of onward/return travel and sufficient funds is recommended. Because the change is very recent, airline Timatic/check-in systems may occasionally lag, so travellers flying soon after the announcement may wish to carry a copy of the consular circular.
