Do Hong Kong passport holders need a visa to visit CI?
HK ordinary passport holders need a visa for Côte d'Ivoire and can apply online for a pre-approved eVisa, then collect the biometric visa on arrival at Abidjan airport. A yellow fever vaccination certificate is mandatory. Hong Kong SAR ordinary passport holders are not visa-exempt for Côte d'Ivoire (Ivory Coast). The standard route for a short tourist visit is the eVisa, applied for entirely online through SNEDAI (snedai.com), the only operator officially approved by the Ivorian state. The process is technically a pre-enrolment: you apply and pay online, receive a pre-authorisation by email (usually within about 48 hours / 2 working days), and the actual biometric visa is then issued and collected on arrival at Félix-Houphouët-Boigny (Port-Bouët) International Airport in Abidjan. Important constraint: the eVisa is only valid for entry through Abidjan airport, not at land borders or other ports of entry. The eVisa permits a stay of up to about 90 days and the pre-authorisation/visa is generally valid for 90 days. The standard published fee is EUR 73. A valid International Certificate of Vaccination against Yellow Fever is required for all travellers aged 9 months and over, regardless of origin, and the passport must be valid for at least 6 months with a blank page. Côte d'Ivoire is in West Africa and is not part of the Schengen area, so Schengen 90/180 and ETIAS rules do not apply. Because the eVisa is a pre-approval that can be accepted or rejected by the authorities (with no refund) and is restricted to Abidjan airport, travellers should apply well ahead and carry printed confirmation.
