Do United Kingdom passport holders need a visa to visit UA?

British citizens can visit Ukraine visa-free for up to 90 days within any 180-day period. No visa or pre-travel authorisation is required for short tourist stays. Holders of an ordinary United Kingdom passport do not need a visa to enter Ukraine for tourism or short visits. Under Ukraine's temporary visa-free regime for British citizens, you may stay up to 90 days within any 180-day period without applying for a visa in advance. The regime, established by presidential decree and renewed annually, has been confirmed to apply to British citizens until 30 January 2027. Ukraine is NOT part of the Schengen area, so the EU/Schengen 90/180 rule and the forthcoming ETIAS authorisation do NOT apply to entry into Ukraine; Ukraine operates its own separate 90/180 visa-free count. At the border you must hold a passport valid for the duration of your stay, be able to show sufficient funds for your trip and return, and provide the purpose and address of your stay if requested. There is no entry fee. Important safety context: because of Russia's full-scale invasion, the UK Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO) advises against all travel to many parts of Ukraine and against all but essential travel to the rest of the country. The visa-free status is unchanged, but travellers should check the latest FCDO advice and ensure travel insurance covers war and conflict risks. Stays beyond 90 days, or for work, study or residence, require an appropriate Ukrainian visa or permit obtained in advance.
