UK ordinary passport holders need a visa for Tajikistan. The simplest route is the official Tajikistan e-Visa, applied for online before travel. There is no visa-free entry for British citizens. British citizens cannot enter Tajikistan visa-free. The standard and recommended option is the single-entry tourist e-Visa obtained through the official Tajikistan Ministry of Foreign Affairs portal (evisa.tj) before departure. The e-Visa costs USD 30, is valid for 90 days from issue, and permits a stay of up to 60 days. Applications should be submitted at least 15 business days before travel; processing typically takes around 15 business days, though many are approved faster. Passports must be valid for at least 6 months and have two blank pages. Travellers heading to the Gorno-Badakhshan Autonomous Region (GBAO/the Pamirs) must add a GBAO permit (USD 20), selectable during the e-Visa application. A visa-on-arrival channel exists but requires pre-approval and is less reliable, so the e-Visa is preferred.
