Yes, a UK ordinary passport holder needs a visa to enter Sudan. There is no visa-free or visa-on-arrival option. You must obtain an ordinary (tourist) visa in advance from the Sudanese Embassy in London. Note: the UK FCDO advises against all travel to Sudan due to armed conflict, so a tourist visit is, in practice, not currently advisable. British citizens require a visa to travel to Sudan; there are no visa-free entries, no eVisa channel, and no visa-on-arrival. The visa must be secured before travel through the Embassy of the Republic of Sudan in London (or a Sudanese embassy in the country you are travelling from). For applicants without Sudanese heritage, a sponsor in Sudan must first obtain an entry permit number from the Ministry of Interior's Aliens Department in Khartoum; the visa is then applied for at the embassy, with personal submission required for tourist/ordinary visas. The passport must be valid for at least 6 months from the date of arrival, a yellow fever vaccination certificate is required, and passports containing Israeli stamps or visas will be refused entry.
